About-face.

The chilling presence of the Frozen Throne deals Frost damage to all nearby enemies. Removes 1% of your health every 3 sec.

So, Blizzard, I heard you didn't want another Sunwell Radiance aura in future expansions, because it was a sign that you had screwed up some game mechanics. You put in diminishing returns on avoidance to ensure that this wouldn't have to happen.

So instead, you seem to think that healing is far too powerful, and that that deserves to be drained.

Fix your bloody game and stop being hypocrites.

  1. Well if it's just 1% every 3 seconds, then that'll be entirely nullified by the various passive healing talents and auras that make up the standard raid. Improved Leader of the Pack, Healing Stream Totem, Vampiric Embrace affect entire raid or parties; then stuff like Blood Presence, Siphon Life and so forth on a player-specific level. If anything that makes those talents and abilities more directly and consistantly useful for your average DPSer with ~25k health.

Where it'll have more effect is on tanks stacking stamina (something that we've unfortunately been required to do by mechanics that ignore mitigation and do vast amounts of damage, such as Gormok's impale). But at 50k health it's still only 500 damage every three seconds, on a target that's hopefully affected with multiple HoTs and the above auras and is subject to constant healing. So on paper it's not too bad.

Where it might affect healers is in encouraging those who'd otherwise be preserving mana to cast extra heals to "top up" the raid between ticks of passive heals, but that's more a healer discipline and playstyle issue.

I just hope it doesn't apply out of combat, as that could be REALLY annoying in certain situations.

  2. Yeah ... If it applies out of combat, we'll have to take raid breaks outside the instance, which is a bit stupid, really.
