I know. Illustration is the weaker of the two trinkets I want, and I'm just waiting for the inevitable PTR patch later in the week that reveals the items from the ICC 5-man instances which will tear Illustration to shreds. It doesn't even get three stacks from Mind Flay. Can you believe that? Because of the long ramp-up time, it's not actually any good to use on fights like Anub'arak where the stacks are likely to drop off -- The Abyssal Rune it replaces is going to be more useful in those circumstances. Eye of the Broodmother, being only five stacks, is wonderfully superior to this just because of the shorter ramp up time, in my opinion. Sure, if you can keep them both up, then Illustration wins out, but ...
But I've had my eyes on this bloody thing since Wrath launched. Even if it does get replaced in two months' time, it's never getting disenchanted. It's going in my bank alongside Timbal's Focusing Crystal as soon as it gets replaced. It's a point of sheer pride.
As for whether it replaces Binding Light? I'm not sure yet. My regen goes a bit low if I swap it out. I'd go down to 243mp5. If I had Solace, that would be just fine, but I don't, and I feel that 22.8k mana unbuffed is the at the lower boundary of what's acceptable for unbuffed intellect for the purposes of regen. The on-use effect of Binding Light, while utterly appalling, is pretty much the only thing I have in terms of a "Pop high spellpower" button right now. Once I get Talisman of Resurgence, I'll use that and Illustration (Talisman and Broodmother when Broodmother comes along). Right now, though, I'm just using the tools that offspec rolls grant me.
Ahem.
ReplyDeleteTwenty-five.
And I believe there's an iron-clad dragonness wishing to have a word with you.
Oh, and grats! Still basically BiS. I hope it means Binding Light will be appropriately sent packing from your disc set.
